A Brief Look At Our Primary Characters

  • Kyra

As a young attorney, Kyra thought she had it all – a good job, a loving husband, and a bright future. Just as she’s being assigned the biggest case of her professional life, her personal life takes a dramatic turn. After her husband Ryan convinces her to have a baby, their lives are upended and complicated by a diagnosis of a genetic disorder in their beautiful baby girl. To make matters worse, they discover a family secret that threatens to disrupt their lives further.
  • Ryan

Ryan adores his job teaching third grade; the children keep him laughing and grounded as his personal life takes twists and turns that leave him emotionally raw. He and Kyra are excited to become parents, but when their daughter begins displaying symptoms that indicate a failure to thrive, their delight is quickly replaced by dread. Will their precious Brooke survive or will they be devastated by a loss too great to contemplate?
  • Julia

Life is comfortable and stable for successful business owner Julia. While trying to celebrate the birth of her first grandchild, she is blind-sided by memories of a childhood event that she hadn’t been in touch with as an adult. Emotions crash into one another, putting Julia in a state that renders her unprepared to help her son and daughter-in-law cope with their daughter’s illness.
  • Susie

Working as a bowling alley barmaid was never Susie’s dream, but this is where she finds herself. Adding to her stress, her unmarried daughter Darcy and Darcy’s two young children share her trailer home, crowding everyone in. Dealing with a difficult ex-husband on top of her money problems and home-life stresses leave Susie in a difficult emotional state that undermines her ability to cope with the new information she learns when her life unexpectedly intersects with Julia’s.
